How Coldpitch decides a company is worth a message

Many companies a source finds are dropped before anything is written. Here is what they are checked for, in order.

Written down 4 October 2026

A company becomes a lead only if three things are true: it is a real company you could sell to, something about it makes now a reason to write, and there is something specific and true to say. Many companies a source reports fail at least one, and they are dropped before any expensive step runs.

Is it a company you could sell to?

Is there a reason to write now?

Every source starts from an event: a funding round, a job posting, a sponsorship, a launch, a paid promo post, a mention. The event is the answer to "why now", and it travels with the lead so you can see it. Which events are worth acting on is a guide of its own.

Is there something true to say?

Coldpitch reads the company's public X account and looks for the weak spots an agency could fix: engagement that does not keep up with the views, posts nobody replies to, reach that stays inside the account's own followers, a feed that barely posts or posts in bursts. Or the event itself is the thing to say, like a role the company is hiring for that you fill.

If there is neither, the company is dropped as "nothing observable to open with". It might be a fine company. There is just nothing true and specific to put in a first message, and we do not invent one.

What it costs to say no

The checks run before anything that costs real money. A company dropped at the first check costs almost nothing, so the sources can afford to report generously and the list you see can afford to be short.

Dropped is not forever

A company dropped today can come back when another source sees it, or when the same source sees something new later. What stops a company from coming back is a message: one already waiting for you, or one you already sent.

Try Coldpitch and skip the manual part

It finds the accounts worth writing to, spots the weak point, digs out who to talk to on Telegram or X, and writes the first message from what it actually found. Less work than doing this by hand, and better leads at the end of it.
