How to find Telegram groups
There are three places public Telegram groups can be found, and this finder uses the two that work from a browser:
- Search engines. Every public group has a page at t.me/name that Google and Bing
index, with its title, description and member count. A
site:t.mesearch with your topic finds them. Adding the word "members" leans the results towards groups, because channel pages say "subscribers" instead. - Lists and directories. Blogs, forums and project websites link to the groups they run or recommend. A search for t.me links next to your topic finds those pages.
- Telegram's own search. In the app, the search bar finds public groups and channels whose name matches what you type. It is the most complete source, but it only works inside Telegram.
Then check what you found: paste the links into "Check group links" to see, for each one, whether it is a group or a channel, how many members its public page shows right now, and its description.
How to search Telegram groups by topic
Use the words members would put in a group's name or description: "crypto marketing", "SaaS founders", "Shopify sellers". Pick a category to add its usual words to the search. If the results are thin, try the name of a city or a language, since many groups are local ("marketing Berlin", "startups Lagos"), or search for the communities of the products your buyers use.
How to choose a relevant Telegram community
- Members online, not just members. A group page shows how many members are online. A large group with almost nobody online is mostly abandoned accounts.
- Who runs it. Groups run by a company are support channels for its users; groups run by the community are where peers talk. Both can be useful, for different things.
- The rules. Most groups pin their rules. Many ban advertising and cold messages to members, and admins remove people who break them.
- Read before you write. A few days of reading tells you what the members ask about, which is worth more than any member count.
Public vs private Telegram groups
A public group has a username and a t.me link anyone can open; its page shows the title, the description and the member count, and anyone can join. A private group has no username: you join only through an invite link (t.me/+...) that a member shares, and nothing about it is visible from outside. This finder only sees public groups, and it never tries to see more than Telegram shows the public.
Frequently asked questions
How can I find Telegram groups?
Search Google or Bing for site:t.me with your topic, look for directories and websites that link to groups, and use the search bar inside Telegram. Enter a topic above to get the web searches, then check the links you find.
Can I search Telegram groups without joining?
Yes. A public group's t.me page shows its name, description and member count to anyone, without joining and without a Telegram account. Reading the messages usually needs the app.
Does the finder include private groups?
No. Private groups have no public page and are only reachable through an invite link from a member. The finder only works with public groups.
How are the results selected?
The searches run on Google or Bing, so the results are theirs, ranked their way. When you check links, each group's details come from its public t.me page at the moment you check, and the time of the check is shown. We do not keep a directory of groups.
