How to find someone's social media profiles
- Start from one handle you trust. The username in their email signature, on their company's website, or on a profile you already know is theirs. Paste it, or the whole profile link, above.
- Check the exact username first. People reuse handles more than anything else, so the same name on another platform is the most likely match. The finder lists those first and checks the ones it can: GitHub and Telegram.
- Confirm it is the same person. Open each profile and look for something that ties it to the one you started from: the same photo, a link between the two, the same company or city in the bio. Without that, it is a possible match, nothing more.
Search social media accounts by username
Most people pick a handle once and reuse it, but platforms force small edits. Telegram allows only letters, digits and underscores and needs at least five characters, so "jane.doe" on Instagram can only be janedoe or jane_doe there. X allows fifteen characters, so a long name gets cut. Taken names push people to add digits or separators: janedoe becomes jane_doe or janedoe1. The finder tries the exact username on every platform, then a small number of these variations: separators added or removed, trailing digits dropped, and, if you give a first and last name under Advanced options, the common name patterns. It does not generate hundreds of guesses, because a long list of unlikely handles costs you more time than it saves.
Why one username may not identify the same person
A username is first come, first served on every platform. "alex" on GitHub and "alex" on Telegram are almost certainly different people, and even a distinctive handle can belong to a stranger on a platform your person never joined. Some names are reserved, sold or held by inactive accounts. That is why the finder separates what it checked ("Verified public profile" means an account exists at that address) from what it means (nothing about who owns it). Before you contact anyone, look for a link between the profiles: the same photo, a cross-link in the bio, the same employer.
Supported social media platforms
| Platform | Profile link | Checked? |
|---|---|---|
| Twitter / X | x.com/username | Not checked. Open the link: X shows whether the account exists. |
| Telegram | t.me/username | Yes. Our server reads the public t.me page, which names the account, channel, group or bot when the username is taken. |
reddit.com/user/username | Not checked: Reddit does not allow automated reading without an agreement. | |
| GitHub | github.com/username | Yes. Your browser asks GitHub's public API, which says whether the user exists. |
instagram.com/username | Not checked: Instagram shows profiles to logged-in visitors. | |
| TikTok | tiktok.com/@username | Not checked. |
linkedin.com/in/username | Not checked. LinkedIn addresses often differ from usernames elsewhere, so the finder also gives you a Google search for the person on LinkedIn. |
Starting from a company rather than a person? The company social media finder reads a company's website and lists the profiles it links to.
Frequently asked questions
Can I find social media accounts by username?
Yes. Enter the username or a profile link above and the finder lists that username on Twitter / X, Telegram, Reddit, GitHub, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, plus a few likely variations, each as a link you can open.
Does this tool verify that profiles belong to the same person?
No. Where it can, it verifies that a public profile exists at an address (GitHub and Telegram). Whether that profile belongs to the person you are looking for is something only the profiles themselves can show: the same photo, a link between them, the same employer.
Can I search Telegram and Twitter together?
Yes. With All selected, the finder lists the username on both, and checks the Telegram one against its public t.me page. The X link is not checked: open it to see the account.
Why are some profiles marked unverified?
Because we did not check them. X, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn show profiles mostly to logged-in visitors, and Reddit does not allow automated reading. Those rows are possible matches: open them to see whether the account exists.
How do I check if a Telegram username exists?
Enter it above: the finder reads its public t.me page. A page that names an account, channel, group or bot means the username is taken; a page that only says "Contact @username" means no public account holds it.
How do I find someone on Telegram by name?
Telegram's search finds public usernames, not real names. Start from the handles the person uses elsewhere, or put their first and last name under Advanced options: the finder turns them into the Telegram usernames worth trying.
