The best platform for cold outreach

Telegram, LinkedIn, email and X, what each one costs you, and why the platform you research on should not be the one you send on.

The best platform for cold outreach is the one where your message is competing with the fewest others, and for most B2B sellers in 2026 that is no longer email. Ranked by how likely a first message is to actually be seen: Telegram, then LinkedIn, then email, then X. The right answer still depends on your market, and the rest of this explains when each one wins.

Telegram

Why it works: the inbox is mostly people the owner knows. There is no promotions tab, no filter trained on sales language, and a notification that behaves like a message from a friend because usually it is one. In markets where it is the default messenger, crypto and much of Eastern Europe and Asia, nearly every founder has a personal account.

What it costs: finding the right person is real work. There is no directory, and the seven-step process it takes is the reason the channel is not saturated. Get it wrong and you have messaged a stranger using someone else's name.

Use it when your market lives there. Outside those markets you will spend the effort and find nobody home.

LinkedIn

Why it works: everybody is findable, and the platform itself tells you their role, tenure and company. Nothing else gives you that for free.

What it costs: the inbox is heavily contested and recipients are conditioned to ignore connection requests with a pitch attached. Limits are strict and enforcement is automated.

Use it when you need to reach a specific job title at a specific company and you do not already know who that is.

Email

Why it works: it scales, it is measurable, and nobody needs permission to receive one. The infrastructure is mature and every sequencing tool supports it.

What it costs: it is the most contested channel there is. Average reply rates have been falling for years, deliverability is now a specialist discipline of its own, and a mistake costs you a sending domain rather than a message.

Use it when you need volume across a market that has no common messenger, or when your buyer genuinely works out of their inbox.

X

Why it works: the signals are there. Public posts show who just raised, who is hiring, who is frustrated. As a place to find out who to talk to, it is the best of the four.

What it costs: as a place to talk to them, it is the worst. Unless you are already connected, a DM from a stranger lands in a request folder most people never open. Treat X as research, not as a channel.

Choosing, in one paragraph

Find the signal on X, find the person wherever they are findable, and send on whichever channel they actually read. Those are three different platforms and there is no reason they should be the same one. The common mistake is picking a channel first and forcing the whole process through it.

Questions people actually ask

What is the best platform for cold outreach?

Whichever one your buyer reads. For crypto and much of Eastern Europe and Asia that is Telegram; for reaching a named job title it is LinkedIn; for scale across a mixed market it is still email. X is better used for research than for messaging.

Is Telegram outreach better than email?

In markets where Telegram is the default messenger, yes, because the inbox is far less contested. Outside those markets the contacts are not there to find, and email wins by default.

Do cold DMs on X work?

Rarely, if you are not already connected. Messages from strangers go to a request folder most people never check. X is the best of the four for finding who to talk to and the worst for talking to them.

Should I use more than one channel?

Yes, but for different jobs rather than for the same message twice. Research on one, contact discovery on another, the actual send on a third is a normal and effective split.

Try Coldpitch and skip the manual part

It finds the accounts worth writing to, spots the weak point, digs out who to talk to on Telegram or X, and writes the first message from what it actually found. Less work than doing this by hand, and better leads at the end of it.
